Pros and cons of two-game series

A recent rainout and the stars aligning may have caused one of the oddest schedules to come together in recent PBL history.

The Armena Royals could (I repeat could) have home-and-home series or back-to-back games with every team in the league by seasons end.

They already had a home-and-home with Bardo, which the Royals swept. Due to last week’s rainout, they will end up with back-to-backs with Holden.

Proposed schedules see them playing Leduc June 5 and 7 in a home-and-home, Camrose June 14 and 19 and then possibly a Thursday-Thursday with Ryley on 28 and July 3. Note: The Ryley game on June 28 might not happen with many players being gone before the long weekend. June 7 game is still being confirmed on umpire availability.

If the stars somehow do align, what do you think of this many back-to-back contests? In the late 90s when I came into the league, you pretty much played Teams 1-7, repeat in the same order for weeks 7-12 and then two bonus games. Rarely did you see a team three times before the season was half-over.

I don’t know which way I feel. I kind of like the series, but it also stinks if one or two of your best players are gone and you face someone back-to-back games the one week he is gone.

At the same time, at the end of the season, it can produce some epic games and big swings in the standings.
