Bardo climbs back to .500

Bardo went into Tuesday nights tilt against the Blue Jays after completing the wrong end of 3 game sweep at the hands of the Armena Royals the week before.

Taking a look before the game we realized that all of the Royals win were against the error filled Bardo Athletics.

“We had handed them those games, took 6 points wrapped them up and gave them a great start to the season” said Veteran Ryan Oleson.

He also was quick to add that they showed some great resiliency at the plate and were solid on the defensive side of the ball, which we were not.

Consistency will win championships in baseball, now when you are averaging over 5 errors a game your going to be hard pressed to win any games throughout the year. With a new young core making up the most part of Bardo’s roster we knew there were going to be a few road bumps on the way.

Last night was no different in the terms of a couple (for lack of a better term)brain farts. This time Bardo managed to battle through it and managed to pick up a much needed win.

Holden had started the night with 8 fielders but the 9th was able to make it for the start of the 3rd inning not before allowing an “auto” out at the bottom of the order in the second that could have been much worse for the A’s as they allowed 4 runs and a stranded runner on third.

In Bardo’s half of the 2nd they managed to go from bases loaded none out to 2 out and a runner on 1st after a single by 1st baseman Peter Neufeld. Now I wont name names but only the craftiest of base running would have put ourselves in this position….

After 3 innings Bardo was up 9-5 and this would be all SP Mike Leclaire would need as he went 7 strong when his team really needed him too.

“Bullpen was a little thin tonight so we needed him to go as far as he could” said Player manager Craig Neufeld.

The game would finish on none other than a base running error that seemed to be the theme for the night. The win puts Bardo from the basement and tied for second with the “red” hot Ryley Rebels.

Short memories will be on the plate for Thursday night as Bardo looks to shake off their error riddled gloves and Camrose will be looking at a complete memory loss after getting outscored 41-8 over the last two games vs. Ryley.

Diamond should be in tip top shape for the first game of the year between these two teams due to postponements. Bardo’s ground crew will be hard at work to make sure everything is looking good for the weekend’s festivities.
