Road Runners Snap Skid

The Camrose Road Runners went into Bardo last night hoping for anything to snap their losing streak, they found what they were looking for in quality pitching and timely hitting.

The Road Runners got things going in the 1st after Bardo starter Sean Melanson put on three of the first four batters he faced with two walks and hit batter. Bret Keohane was able to bring 1 run accross before the A’s defence limited the damage.

The Road Runners were able to cash in two more runs in the 2nd with some crafty base running by Tyler Banack and clutch hitting by Alex Roth and Tim McTavish.

Melanson was able to work the stirke zone and got some defensive help over the next 2 innings to keep Camrose at bay.

The Road Runners were able to pick up a much needed run the 5th inning thanks again to Tyler Banack’s quickness on the bags.

Alex Roth took to the hill for the Road Runners allowing only 3 hits over 4 shutout innings while striking out 3 before handing the reigns over to Marcel Lesoway.

Lesoway came in with a 4 run cushion but as history has showed no lead is safe against the A’s. Pete Neufeld began a rally for Bardo with a deep double in the bottom of the 5th. A couple of defensive miscues by the Road Runners and timely hiting from the A’s shrunk the lead to just 1 heading into the 6th.

Lesoway was able to work a perfect 6th to give the Road Runners a chance to increase their lead in the 7th.

Pam McTavish lead things off with a single but was thrown out at 2nd on a fielder’s choice which left Sheldon Petryshen on 1st. He was soon cashed in by Josh Banack who hit a generous triple into right field. After a walk to Eldon Banack, Tim McTavish was able to bring the younger Banack home with a single. Bret Keohane finished the scoring for Camrose by lining a single that plated the other Banack.

The A’s were looking to rally once again in the bottom of the 7th where Melanson was able to work a lead off walk against Lesoway. Despite making it to 3rd on a errant pick off attempt Bardo was unable to bring him home as Lesoway buckled down and got the next 3 batters to secure the win and halt the losing streak for the Road Runners.
