Roadrunners Wear Out Milleteers To Keep Playoff Hopes Alive

With their playoff hopes on the line the Camrose Roadrunners were the hungrier team tonight as they outlasted the Milleteers in the plus 32 heat tonight. With the Milleteers a little low on pitching from the weekend they turned to hard throwing rookie Kirk Smith, but he could not overcome his wildness and had to be relieved in the second by Trevor Pahl, making his fifth pitching appearance in five years.

Pahl threw well and stopped the bleeding, but the damage was done as the
Milleteers kept getting runners on, but could not break it wide open against
2011 PBL pitcher of the year Alex Roth. Despite some hard hits and early
errors, Roth kept on pumping the strike zone and it paid off as he hung in there
to give his team a massive win and keep their playoff hopes alive. The
Roadrunner attack was paced by leadoff hitter Sheldon Petryshen who got on base
four out of five times, much like he did for the Milleteers on the
weekend.

Next up the Milleteers will head to Bardo tomorrow to try and spoil their
playoff chances.
