Boettger, Armena takes game one

Another solid pitching performance and contributions from 1-9 on offence led to the Armena Royals fourth straight win Tuesday night in Leduc, 6-1 over the Milleteers.

Boettger struck out six and gave up just one run getting the complete game win. Meanwhile, the Armena Royals offence mustered some early runs that proved to be the difference in the ball game.

Adam Johnson led the game off with a check swing single and was moved into scoring position on a Clark Banack bunt. An Ian Sherbaniuk single got the Royals on the board before his brother Zenan reached on an error to score two more and give Armena a 3-0 lead after one.

Boettger got out of trouble a couple times and then got the much needed insurance in the fourth inning when Johnson hit a single to right and Clark Banack broke a slide with an RBI single to make it 6-0 after four.

The Milleteers would battle back with a run of their own in the fifth but Boettger maintained consistency and closed out the night with a 6-1 win.

Game two goes in Armena on Thursday. Game time is 7 p.m.
