Vote now: Axemen vs. Milleteers

Two dynasties – both from the 2000s meet up in the final after two victories each. Leduc has made it look easy with a lopsided victory over the 1980s Armena Royals and an upset over the mid-2000s Camrose Colts/Roadrunners.

The Axemen squeaked by the mid-90s Ryley Rebels in extra innings then handled the Bardo Athletics in the semi-final.

Here’s hoping for a spirited debate in the final as these two teams – at separate stages of their PBL life – have met and are often compared.

The Axemen now have many different faces than they did during their PBL run. The pitching staff was bouyed by now Armena Royal Joel Boettger and retired hurler Scott Peterson, who ironically ended his career in Leduc.

Leduc has more depth at pitching it seems. The Milleteers’ offense is just as clutch as the old Axemen who found ways to win back then you never thought possible – even when the regulars were absent. The defense between the two would have been pretty solid.

The one variable that throws everything off thinking back, is the metal bats. The Axemen often powered through the regular seasons and then died down in the playoffs. However, they did face the Camrose Colts pitching, which rivals the best of PBL all time during their final two championships.

Let the debates and conclusions be made as we end the journey to keep this winter entertaining on the website in the PBL Best Ever Franchise poll.
