Tentative 2013 schedule posted

The latest version of the 2013 Powerline Baseball League schedule has been posted.

Teams will play the standard 15 game schedule with either seven or eight games at home. Bardo, Camrose and Holden will get the extra home game this year.

The season is set to begin on Saturday, May 11 with two games. One in Holden with a rematch of the 2011 final against the 4-time defending champion Leduc Milleteers and the other pitting long-time rivals Bardo and Ryley in Ryley. Game times are still to be determined.

Team reps will vote to approve the schedule at the annual spring meeting in March. Individual team schedules on the team pages will then be posted. The date of that meeting is also to be determined.

Three and possibly four PBL tournaments are planned for 2013:

  • The Leduc Milleteers may have a one-day preseason invite on May 4. This is still tentative.

  • Then the Armena Royals, Camrose Roadrunners and Holden Blue Jays will host an 8-team bracketed event June 8-9 in place of Bardo Day. Details on that event will be released soon.

  • The following weekend the annual rockin’ Ryley Sports Days takes place June 14-16.

  • Bardo Day is still a mystery. With current Athletics’ utility player Pete Neufeld tying the knot on the historical weekend of June 8, the Athletics had planned on moving the day until recently when Neufeld mentioned some of the locals wanted to host a tournament with different guys. More to come.
Playoffs are set to begin in mid- to late-July culminating in the final in early August. Game times are 7 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Unless any changes are proposed, the top four teams will once again qualify for playoffs which are all best-of-three series.
