PBL Teams to Participate in Exhibition Weekend

Three Powerline Baseball League teams, the Armena Royals, Camrose Roadrunners and Leduc Milleteers will join the Camrose Axemen and Edmonton Warriors of the North Central Alberta Baseball League and the Heisler Cardinals of the Battle River Baseball League on May 4 – 5 for some exhibition baseball.
Each team will get two games over the course of the weekend for some preseason at bats and innings with the PBL season set to kick off the following weekend with the Milleteers travelling to Holden to take on the Jays, the Bardo Athletics in Ryley against the Rebels in an early season rivalry week and the expansion Red Sox from Beaumont heading to Armena to square off against the Royals.
Saturday May 4th
9:30am – Camrose Axemen White at Camrose Roadrunners
12:00pm – Heisler Cardinals at Armena Royals
2:30pm – Camrose Roadrunners at Heisler Cardinals
5:00pm – Armena Royals at Camrose Axemen Red
Sunday May 5th
9:30am – Camrose Axemen Red at Leduc Milleteers
12:00pm – Leduc Milleteers at Edmonton Warriors
2:30pm – Edmonton Warriors at Camrose Axemen White
Organizers tried to set the schedule so that teams would be able to see different competition as opposed to yet another game against a team they might see 3-4 times in the short season. With four local teams and three teams from the PBL scheduled to play, baseball fans in the Camrose area will get a good look at some of the baseball teams from the area, most of whom had great success in 2012.
The weekend will feature the 2012 PBL finalist Armena Royals, the 2012 PBL Champion Leduc Milleteers, the 2012 BRBL Champion and 2012 Senior AA Provincial finalist Heisler Cardinals and the 2012 NCABL Pennant winning Camrose Axemen.
Fingers are crossed that Mother Nature will let the weekend go on and organizers are hoping for some baseball fans to come out and cheer on the local squads while the teams will get some early season exposure in the community.
