Blue Jays Take One In Extras

The Holden Blue Jays rolled into Leduc Tuesday night on a three game win streak looking to even the season series with the first place Milleteers.  Both teams went with the same starting pitchers as last time as hard throwers Logan Skori and Jon Anstey squared off again after the Milleteers took the season opener.

 

It was a different result this time as Skori kept the Milleteers at bay at the plate only giving up one run and one hit in his five strong innings.  On the flip side the Blue Jays managed some bloops and infield singles, mixed in with seven Milleteers errors to jump out to a slim lead.

 

Both teams went to the bullpen as the Milleteers Chad Soucy continued his strong season as he pitched three scoreless to give the Milleteers a chance to comeback.  That chance came in the sixth as they were finally able to manage their second hit of the game to tie it off reliever Grayson Soprovich, but that was it for the Milleteer offense.

 

In the top of the 8th the Blue Jays got a couple on with a walk and another bloop, then two wild pitches plated a run before Soucy was able to get a weak comebacker and the last of his 7 strikeouts on the night to end it.  There was no miraculous comeback tonight for the Milleteers however as Soprovich struck out the side to end it as the Milleteers seemed to wave the white flag after an awful night at the plate and in the field.

 

On the positive side the Milleteers were 2-4 with RISP.  Problem was that those were their only 2 hits.  With the Blue Jay pitching staff and defense in excellent form, you probably aren’t going to win too many games when you make almost four times as many errors as you have hits.

 

Next up for the Milleteers will be a suddenly real important game in the standings as they take on the hard hitting Armena Royals on the road in a battle for first place.  A loss could drop the Milleteers down to third in the standings, a spot they haven’t occupied in over five years.  Game time is seven o’clock.
