Milleteers End Losing Streak Against Roadrunners
The Milleteers came into this one on a two game losing streak and a tenuous hold on the top of the standings as they needed a win to keep pace with the surging Royals and Blue Jays.  All year long the Milleteers have been plagued by sloppy defense and, save for one inning in Beaumont, have been brutal with the bats.  This game started out like most of the others so far this year as the Milleteers were sat down 1-2-3 in the first, and then Camrose struck for two in the second after a couple of walks, two botched pickoff plays, and a timely hit.

In the bottom of the second the sloppy play continued as the Milleteers failed to capitalize on a high fly ball to left that got lost in the sun as the runner on first was just out for a leisurely jog with two out.  For some odd reason that seemed to spark the team as they played good defense and got a good effort on the mound from pitchers Shawn Brinkworth and Mark Walker to keep the Roadrunners off the score sheet the rest of the way.

In the third inning the Milleteers offense came to life as they batted around using a combination of walks, HBPs, and hits to put up a five spot to chase the young Camrose starter.  They would bat around again in the sixth as they really started crushing line drives as a whole host of Milleteers busted out of their slumps.  OF Adam Pahl even got himself a batting average finally half way through the regular season.

Next up will be another important game in the standings as on Thursday the Milleteers head to Armena to take on the third place Royals.
