Milleteers Finally Put One Together
After a frustrating first half of the season that saw the team waste a bunch of good pitching performances with brutal defense and an anemic offense the Milleteers finally put together a solid seven inning effort tonight.  The Angels quickly capitalized on a couple of walks in the first as they strung a few hits together, but after that the pitching combo of hard throwing Jon Anstey and finesse righty Tara Sliwkanich held the fort.  They were aided by some decent defense that made all the plays with the exception of a base hit played into a double in the first.

On the other side of the ball the Milleteers finally got a few bloops and bleeders go their way, and then the offense started rolling as they pounded out 15 hits, including 7 from old Wetaskiwin Rockies teammates Chad Soucey and Steven Pahl as they turned back the clock to 1997.  The rest of the lineup chipped in too, as everyone had a hit except starting pitcher Jon Anstey, but he scored two runs and pitched five strong, so we will let it slide.

Hopefully the bats can keep it going as they take on their old nemesis, the Bardo Athletics on Thursday at the old Bardo Fairgrounds.  The Athletics have been on a roll of late and are in a battle for the last playoff spot.  Game time is seven bells.
