Royals edge A’s in crucial late-season tilt

The Armena Royals kept their winning streak going, closing out their home schedule with a 4-2 win over the Bardo Athletics Tuesday night.

Knuckleballer Ian Sherbaniuk earned his fifth win of the season and Landon Miller notched a couple key RBI to give Armena its ninth win of the campaign.

Bardo struck first after Sherbaniuk beaned two, then gave up a single to A’s veteran Chris Mittlestadt in the first. Sherbaniuk than settled down and didn’t give up a run the rest of the night.

Counterpart Sean Melanson for Bardo kept the Royals in check most of the night. It wasn’t until the fifth inning when Andreassen notched an RBI single and the third baseman Landon Miller followed up with a 2-RBI shot up the middle to stake the Royals out to a 4-2 lead that stuck.

Armena now heads to Beaumont Thursday night in a make-up affair. Their last game against Leduc, another rainout, has yet to be scheduled.
