Angels cap season with win over Armena

The Armena Royals lost 8-3 at Beaumont on Thursday, despite outhitting the Beaumont Angels nine to seven.

The Beaumont Angels got one-run rallies in the third and fourth inning. In the third, the Beaumont Angels scored on a wild pitch, then took advantage of two Royal errors in the fifth to set the table for veteran slugger Bill Demer who hit a bases clearing double (could have been a triple if he didn’t hate them so much) to pretty much put the game out of reach.

Three runs in the top of the seventh helped the Armena Royals close their deficit to 8-3. An RBI double by Cole Tomaszewski, an RBI triple by Dean Prpick, and an RBI single by Jason Buzzell sparked the Armena Royals’ rally. Brendan Kudrowich flew out to end the ballgame after going 2-for-4 on the night.

Armena will need to find a way to get better clutch hitting now that playoff baseball is basically here. They stranded a total of 15 base runners including 11 in scoring position in this week’s ball games.

The Royals still clinched home field in the first round with a Leduc loss Thursday night in Bardo, but since Holden holds the slim tie breaker with +1 runs for in the games between the two teams, first place is still up for grabs with Armena finishing against Leduc Tuesday and Holden closing out against Bardo Thursday.
