Game Notes: This one turned out a little closer that anticipated versus the much-improved WN North Stars. In the end, Pius prevailed 4-2, improving their conference mark to 10-6 (currently 3rd). Pius opened up a 4-0 lead through 4-Innings on the strength of 6-Hits. That would be all the scoring needed to seal the “V” today. North scored single runs in the 5th and 6th to narrow the lead to 2-Runs, but Pius was able to thwart any additional scoring chances. Senior Tim Pauly started and pitched 5 1/3-Innings, giving up 2-Runs, on 4-Hits while striking out 8, and walking 4 in gaining the victory. Scott Perry came in to pitch the final 1 2/3-Innings to pick up the Save. Perry did not allow a Hit while striking out 2 of 5 batters faced. Pauly and Joel Seagraves led the Pius attack with 2-Hits each. Both scored a run as well. Sean Saglin reached 3X’s on 2-BB’s, a Single, while scoring a Run. Jeremy Penn rounded out the hitting, adding a Single and Run.
