Jays Freeze Royals 7 to 4

Despite the bitter temperature the Holden bats picked up where they left off Tuesday night in Bardo. The Vegreville boys followed their usual routine of showing up fifteen minutes before the game because 1B Zak Lang needed Subway. But hey, when the big guy is 8 for 9  to start the year I guess he can do as he pleases. The first saw the Jays put up 4 quick ones off a couple errors and doubles by Lang and Bryan Ziegler. Newly aquired rookie Braedon Majeski got the nod on the hill and began somewhat shaky to start, giving up a two run double to Jason Buzzell. The Jays responded with two more of their own in the top half of the second.

The bats on both sides settled down for the rest of the game as Majeski and Galvin found their grooves. Armena threatened a couple of times in the later innings but with a little help from the outfield, Majeski  stood tall, picking up the complete game victory.

With a 3 and 0 record to begin the season the Jays now have their best start in what is their 5th year since re-joining the PBL. With the addition of Majeski, they have a 1-2-3 punch that arguably represents the deepest depth on the mound in the league. Not to mention Muzechka, Colten and Randall Ziegler and Hrabec waiting in the shadows shall one of the aces fall early.

The surprising part of the first 3 games has been at the plate where minus the game versus Leduc, the bats have been on fire to start the year. Asking 3-4 hitters Lang and Majeski to do more would be almost impossible. They however, are not the only ones contributing. Each one of 14 players have chipped in one way or another.

Optimism is soaring as the Jays look forward to next Thursday against a Beaumont Angels team that is certainly riding a high after upsetting the Milleteers last night. Here’s hoping the weather will co-operate so the boys won’t have to listen to little Grayson Soprovich cry about how cold his ears are every half-inning.
