Another Sherbaniuk ‘four’ the win in Armena

Zenan Sherbaniuk went seven strong and went 3-for-3, plus a RBI game-winning bases-loaded hit by pitch to help the Armena Royals rally not once, but twice over the Ryley Rebels for an 11-6 win at home Tuesday night.

It marked the fourth time this season either of Sherbaniuk brothers (Both 2-0 now) won a game on the hill for the Royals.

Another slow start for the Royals included a three-run first for the Rebels, scoring two on a potential inning-ending double-play turned throwing error, followed by anemic bats stymied by new-look Scott Koughan through the first couple.

The bats got going in the fourth, including a Richard Dupre 2 RBI single. Dupre was quickly picked off and threw out his shoulder, sending him to the hospital. The team ran themselves into a couple outs but was able to break out in the sixth thanks to an lead-off error and Chad Samoisette triple. Sherbaniuk would then cash in the winning RBI by getting hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, before the Royals notched four more to put the game away.

They now head to Beaumont Thursday, a bit shorter staffed, as two injuries and three work issues could force them to start the game with nine guys for the first time all season. Game time is 7 p.m.
