Skori Reigns in Pitcher’s Dual

The site was all too familiar last night as the Blue Jays bats continued on a cold streak. Luckily, on the mound pitcher Logan Skori was quite the opposite. Skori hit the corners all evening and the defense was able to scoop up the couple baseballs that the Roadrunners got ahold of. When it was all said and done Skori allowed 1 hit and 0 runs over 6 innings. In fact, to date Skori has pitched 11 innings and has only allowed a single hit.

Barely outdone, Camrose pitcher Cody Sroka had a pitching perfermance to be proud of. At first glance the Holden boys were frothing at the mouth as the pitches were coming in about batting practice speed. Sroka quickly turned excitement into frustration as the bats never seemed to get a good piece of the ball. The only blemish on the board for Sroka came in the 3rd inning when he surrendered a walk to Colten Ziegler, who then advanced to second on a passed ball. After Grayson Soprovich moved Ziegler over to 3rd, Stephen Hrabec cashed the run in with a sacrifice fly.

Still being careful with his arm after Tommy John surgery 2 years ago, Skori decided 6 innings was enough. Kyle Muzechka, the new coach/closer for the Jays, who has also been very careful with his twig came in to finish the game. Muzzy struck out the side to earn his first save of the year.

The Jays, now tied for first with Armena at 4 and 1, will face the Roadrunners once again on Thursday, this time in Camrose.
