Armena upends Leduc in mid-season clash

Lanky Lyndon Galvin chucked 6 1/3 for the first non-Sharbaniuk Armena victory of the season, however, Zenan Sherbaniuk would still need to come in and close the door with 2/3 inning save enroute to a 7-5 win at home over the Leduc Milleteers Thursday night at Anniversary Park.

Galvin worked out of trouble in the first three innings multiple times while the Royals staked a 4-0 lead on Leduc starter Ryan Walker. Landon Miller notched a groundout RBI in the first, scoring Zenan Sherbaniuk. Adam Johnson would score on a Sherbaniuk single in the second.

Jon Anstey would relieve Walker midway through the game and that started to turn the tide the Milleteers way. Former Royal Mark Walker ripped an RBI double and later scored to make it 4-3.

Galvin’s day was looking done, but he threw a 1-2-3 sixth inning that proved to be another turning point. A couple errors in the seventh and a double by Adam Johnson paved the way for David Ritz and Clark Banack to crack open the game with RBI singles. Johnson ran around the bases, stealing one and scoring on a passed ball to make it 7-3.

Galvin got the lead-off out and a groundout to first, but the slow roller found its way past first baseman Doug Morris and the rally caps were on for the five-time champs. A couple hits later ran Galvin off the mound and Zenan Sherbaniuk was called in to try for the save. He gave up a hit before getting lineout and a fly out to left to end the game.
