Royals rebound with shutout win over Leduc

Ian Sherbaniuk pitched a complete-game shutout and Clark Banack and Doug Morris went a comined 6 for 8 with 5 RBI to propel the Armena Royals past the Leduc Milleteers 8-0 Tuesday night in Leduc.

Sherbaniuk only struck out one, but had the junk moving and solid defence from Adam Johnson who made half a dozen infield plays on the night.

Both teams spun threw the first three innings quickly, Steven Pahl going for the Milleteers.

The Royals finally broke the ice as Doug Morris reached third, tagging up from second with an amazing slide after a ridiculously good throw from right field. He scored on an infield single by Clark Banack who would later add a two-RBI single to make it 4-0. The Royals would tack on four more against reliever Ryan Walker and Sherbaniuk kept things in check for the shutout.

The Royals now play Ryley next Wednesday, who reportedly two-hit the Beaumont Angels in a 15-0 route Tuesday night. The playoffs seem likely for Armena now, but not certain, and the race for first place is far from over with Holden sweeping the Royals and Ryley still able to run the table with five games left.
