Ford wins G1 in split
Posted November 19, 2019

The 1958 World Series appeared to be going the way all the punters have predicted. A close first game where the Yankees always looked to be in charge despite trailing early. Their firepower and Whitey Ford's pitching always looked as though they would pace the Braves. Leading 3-1 coming to the bottom of the 8th in G2 it looked like the series would be heading to New York with dem bums in a strong position. This Braves team is made of sterner stuff though and one run in the 8th was followed by 2 more in the 9th to clinch a 4-3 win. The Braves would have been disappointed if their 16 hits hadn't produced a victory but the Yankees themselves had 12 of their own. Both teams can take positives from these two games but the luckiest are the fans who are privileged to be able to watch two great teams slug it out. The series may well hinge on G3.
