First Ever GKHL Champion Crowned

Tonight was game 2 of the championship series which Tanner was leading 1-0 going into. Chelsey facing elimination she knew she had to give her home crowd something to cheer about as she needed their energy for the game. It was going very well for Chelsey as calls, bounces and luck was all in her favour. She battled held a constant lead until 2:36 in the third period where Tanner pulled ahead by one. Tanner later given a double minor penelty gave up a power play goal but did score short handed. The teams did not decide it in regulation and it forced overtime. Overtime was a very defensive overtime as neither team wanted to make a mistake. Following a nerve racking overtime it went to a shoot out and through six rounds no one could put the puck in the net. In round 7 it was Tanner who snuck one by to put pressure on Chelsey and with all the pressure she did not prevail leaving Tanner jumping and cheering as he won the game 17-16, won the series 2-0 and the league and was named the GKHL Champion and MVP. It was a great tournament for both teams and everyone involved in the league was pleased with it and will look forward for the leagues expansion and season in the summer .
