Meet the Rooks!

2020 is behind us and the rebuild continues.  Last year was an anomaly and with it comfortably in the rearview mirrow we've seen some roster changes.  Kye and Kade are playing WCBL this summer with the Dawgs and Bulls respectively, Ayden is going under the knife after an amazing year at LSUE, Mitchell is staying down in North Dakota and playing summer ball there, Roch is playing summer collegiate ball in Omaha, Cole is taking the year off and Hutch headed back to the Guns.  So needless to say, we had more than a few holes to fill.  Here's the new faces on the squad this year, in alphabetical order:

Jordan Cullum: Jordan joins us from Manitoba and is a smooth as silk infielder who'll be seeing time on the left side of the infield.  Super nice guy, red head, Jays fan, what more could you ask for?

Matt Dobberthien: Matt comes to us from Colby College.  We know nothing about him other than he is a RHP/OF and is Kales pal from the Dawgs academy. He's Dobber until he tells us otherwise, at which point, he's probably still Dobber.

Dayton Heino: Dayton is a big kid from Manitoba who catches and moonlights as a RHP.  He looks almost exactly like Ayden...which is strange at first, then comforting.  Dayton swings it real well and pitchers already love throwing to him.

Jordan Lee: Jordan is huge and joins us from Stettler where he last played for the Stettler Storm.  He's shaking off the rust, but is a gamer and all about the team already. He's also got some pretty legit flow and is a corner infielder who'll be reeling it in at 1B this season.

Jared Lee: Jared is Jordan's baby bro. He has pierced ears, which is a rarity for guys from eastern Alberta. Great kid and another very slick infielder who spent the initial COVID season with the U of C Dinos. He'll be playing some 2B/3B this year. Rocking some super-clean white spikes that look sharp as hell.

Jake Shuya: Jake is a very unassuing guy, then stepped in and rocked a few bombs during onfield BP. Another really nice kid, Jake adds to the Airdrie component of the crew and will be playing some 1B and almost certainlly DHing some this season.

Matt Stebner: Matt has a small sample of FMBA experience and one thing is clear: he can hit.  Matt played some college ball out east at the University of New Brunswick and is another infielder added to the fold to help shore up the defence and shore up the runs saved stat moving forward.

Really looking forward to the 2021 season as the squad continues to evolve and improve. Should be a fun season as the FMBA is in a great place and continues to grow into the top league in the province.
