Home Opener Victory

For the first time in almost two years, the Supers were able to host a baseball game on newly renovated Al Sapieha Field on Monday, June 14. It seemed like a lifetime ago when they hoisted the SESBL Championship trophy in 2019, but things are starting to come back to normal with fewer Covid 19 cases, plus the smack of the glove and the crack of the bat.
The Parkland Pirates were the first opponents on the new field, and were thoroughly impressed with the improvements. Unfortunately they ran into Supers ace pitcher Kody Rock on the evening, who was in mid season form, tossing a one hit, 15 strikeout 2-0 shutout victory for the Supers.
Offence was in short supply for both squads, as the Supers had eight hits, but only two runs off of Pirates pitcher Jordan Bieber. Rock led the way with a pair of singles and three stolen bases. Ian Quewezance had two singles and a run. Jason Waldbauer had a double and a run scored in his Supers debut. Long time vets Derek Palagian and Darcy Blommaert each had a single, while SESBL veteran and Supers newcomer Greg Pelechaty had the decisive two rbi single in the bottom of the sixth to seal the deal.
The Supers record is 1-0, and will travel to Langenburg on Thursday, June 16 to take on the Legends for a 6:30 first pitch
