2021 SESBL CHAMPS!

Posted August 4, 2021

The Supers are the Southeast Senior Baseball League champions as they finsihed off the Yorkton Marlins 8-1 in game 4 of the best of 5 series.

Kody Rock toed the rubber for the third time in the series, and was his usual dominant self despite a painful hamstring injury which prevented him from swinging a bat, He tossed the complete game, allowing just two hits, one unearned run and nine strikeouts to pick up the win. The Marlins were simply no match on this evening.

After four innings the Supers were down 1-0, as the bats were ice cold. In the top of the fifth, their luck would begin to change as Zach Rakochy had an rbi single, followed by a Travis Mentanko rbi fielders choice to take a 2-1 lead.

In the top of the sixth, the floodgates opened as Rakochy would hit a two out, two strike two rbi single to extend the leead to 4-1. Mentanko followed up with the shot heard round the Parkland, a mammoth three run home run over the right field wall to essentially seal the deal with a 7-1 lead. Kholton Shewchuk would then hit an rbi triple to make the score 8-1, where it would finish at games end. Rakochy had three singles, while Shewchuk also had a single on top of his triple. Evan Rostotski and Chet Bornhorst also pitched in with singles.

The Supers would like to thank Mike Spelay for his years of dedication to the team as the public address announcer. The gameday experience is dramatically improved when Mike is around.

Also we would like to thank the Town of Canora and Rec Director Aaron Herriges for spearheading the improvements to Al Sapieha Field. Our field has received rave reviews from everybody, and it has become a place opposing players look forward to playing at.

Last but not least we would like to thank the fans for all the tremendous support all season long. On top of covering our costs for the season, it is extremely enjoyable to play with the bleachers packed, and cars lined up along the first base line honking the horns! The game day experience is very enjoyable each and every time we take the field. We look forward to the 2022 season and beyond.
