A Note From Your Coach.
Posted May 25, 2022
Guys,
This is always a time of year that comes and goes and for some it's a happy time, for others kind of sad and for others, they're indifferent. For me, it is a time for reflection. I looked you guys at the beginning, and some of you have known me forever and some just met me. I didn't know what to think all the way nor did I know exactly who would be on the 9A, but from what I was told, winning hadn't come easy. I was told that there was a lot of inconsistencies and there would be some difficulties at times. Some of that was true, some of that you overcame and excelled. You're a good team. You're just learning that about yourselves. You guys are learning how to win pretty, win ugly, or just win. They don't ever ask how you win, they ask how many, and guys, you finished up with winning 13 in a row. Impressive at any level.
More importantly than any win or loss, all 13 of you are good young men. You represent your school and your city well. In a time when the microscope was squarely on you, you shined bright. Learned about maybe why we should or shouldn't do things and made the right choices.
In conclusion, I thank you guys for being yourselves, being honest and working hard. You really did make it easy for me to want to drive to New Prague every day. You know there are things to work on, and guys, do the work. I know you will. I truly revere the time we spent together this spring, and will remember this spring for a long time. I am no longer your coach, and yes, that's a little sad for me, but I am not gone. If you see me, let's say at Dozinky, or at another field or even in the school sometime, don't be afraid to come and talk with me. That's part of the relationships you build along the way, and guys, that's the WHY you become a coach.
THANK YOU ALL!
Bill
