SESBL Final Tied 1-1

The best of five Southeast Senior Baseball League championship series is tied at one win apiece between the Supers and the Yorkton Marlins. The Supers won game one at home 3-0 on Monday July 25, but the Marlins returned the favour the next evening in Yorkton with an 11-5 victory.

Monday July 25 - Supers 3 Yorkton Marlins 0 in Canora

This evening was all about the dominant pitching of Kody Rock. He went the compete game allowing just five hits and fourteen strikeouts for the victory.

The Supers bats were mostly quiet, but the tone was set immediately as Sean Kolodziejski drew a walk, while Rock drilled a home run over the left field fence immediately after to give the Supers a 2-0 lead in the bottom of the first. Rock would also reach base on a single and score on a Kholton Shewchuk sac fly in the bottom of the fifth for an insurance run. Zach Rakochy had two hits, while Shewchuk and Jeff Stewart each had one.

Tuesday July 26 - Marlins 11 Supers 5 in Yorkton

The two teams were right back at it the following evening in Yorkton. Unfortunately the Marlins scored early and often, while the Supers could not recover in an 11-5 loss.

Tanner Denesowych started on the mound, and just could not find his groove as he gave up three runs in the first inning. Kholton Shewchuk pitched the following three innings and gave up six more runs. Derek Palagian pitched a scoreless inning, while Shae Peterson finished the game off allowing two runs.

The offence was able to generate five runs on nine hits, but could not sustain consistently throughout the game. Rakochy led the way with three hits including a double. Travis Mentanko and Kolodziejski each had a pair of hits. Clay Sleeva and Rock each had one hit.

With the loss the best of five final is tied 1-1. Game 3 goes Tuesday, August 2nd at 6:30 PM in Canora. Game 4 in Wednesday, August 3rd in Yorkton at 8:30 PM, while game 5 if necessary will go Friday August 5th at 6:15 PM in Canora
