Royals upended by Resston in semi final at Big Moose
Posted July 5, 2010
The Royals first game at Kenosee put them up against the Strasbourg Expos. Although they started a little slow the bats picked up and they ended up winning the game by a score of 9-1. Braden Bauml pitched the complete game and got the win. Braden and Brent Puetz hit homeruns in the win. The win advanced them to the quarter final game against the Carlyle Cardinals. However, after showing up at the park ready to play Saturday morning the Royals ended up not playing. Because Fairview did not show up for their game the draw was restructured and the Royals found themselves in the semi final against the Resston Rockets for the second straight year. Resston jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and did not look back as they defeated the Royals 9-1. Colin Bauml and Mathew Strueby threw for the Royals. Defensively the Royals played pretty sound as they only made one error, but they could not get the bats going as they managed only four hits in total. Resston ended up defeating the Stallions in the final and wins the tourney for the second year in a row.
Braden Bauml won the annual homerun derby at the Big Moose...again. He hit six big flies to win it for the 3rd time in 4 years. Congrats Braden!
Next action for the Royals is Tuesday at 9pm against the Guns.
