After a long winter, the boys of summer are back. A new season with likely one of the most even 6 field teams in recent memory. The 2022 champion Portage Padres bring a full roster of seasoned and new players to try and defend their crown. Watch out for Joey Moffatt SCBL top pitcher in 2019 & 2022.Supporting Moffatt offensively the Padres will look to the bats of Ryan Boterill, and Daylan Laramee just to name a few. Over in Plumas, last years finalists bring back a young but experienced team. They play well together, watch out for one of the best players over the last decade in Zac Yandeau, he will have back up in Warkentin, and Sigurdson as well. The Carberry Royals are always contenders, and will bring a full roster to 2023 looking for another league championship like in 2020. Players like Zane McConnell and Daylan Creasy usually lead the way, who else will rise up in Carberry? The Neepawa Cubs have their first championship since 2017 at top of mind. Neepawa will look to Player/Coach Garret Rempel for pitching and offensive prowess, last years MVP Craig Casto returns to the mix in hopes of a Cubbies playoff run. Neepawa is hoping for another good year on the mound from Wickens & Krutkewich. Over in Austin, Brendon Reimer and his crew are looking to move up the standings and make a run for the top. Last years Rookie of the Year Alex Klassen will hope to have another stellar season for the A's. In Minnedosa, their last championship came in 2015. The veterans will try to teach the new batch of Mavericks their old winning ways, as Minnedosa comes back in the fold after a 4 year hiatus with former players like John Hutton and Devin Foord, getting help from 19 year olds Luke Gugin and Austin Taylor.
Wednesday night is when it all begins. Portage hosts Plumas, Carberry hosts Austin, and Minnedosa is home to Neepawa.
Let the games begin!
