Hutton hits clutch Grand Slam!

When the Minnedosa Mavericks were down 5-4 against the first place Plumas Pirates in the bottom of the 6th, who better to come up than Mitch Hutton. Hutton hit a grand slam to put the Mavericks up 8-5 in front of a huge hometown crowd. Plumas would push two across on two errors in the 7th as the Mavericks hung on to win 8-7. Austin Taylor reached base all four times including a single and 3 walks, then scored 3 runs for the Mavericks (4-9) Carter Hedley was 2-3 with with 2 runs scored as well.Luke Gugin threw 6 solid innings giving up 5 runs, only 3 of those earned. Plumas starting pitcher Riley McBride scored two runs for the Pirates (8-3) He threw 4 innings in the no decision. Rylan Denbow took the loss thowing the final two innings for Plumas. 

Over in Austin, a pitchers dual resulted in a 3-1 victory for the A's over the Cubs. Alex Klassen once again the star of the show with a 2-3 day at the plate with an RBI. On the mound he threw a complete game 4 hitter to pick up the win. Garrett Rempel of Neepawa was good, but not quite good enough as he also threw a complete game but gave up 3 runs on 8 hits. Rempel was also 2-3 at the plate and scored Neepawas lone run. Both pitchers struck out 12 batters. The win moves Austin to  6-6, and the loss drops Neepawa to 4-9. Neepawa is home to Carberry(8-4) on Friday night, meanwhile Austin travels to Portage (5-5).
