Game 1 Supers Victory
Posted July 22, 2023
Game one of the SESBL finals went according to plan. Ace pitcher Kody Rock brought his best arsenal of pitches to the table and the offence was able to capitalize on a few mistakes while the defence played a clean game in a 3-1 Supers win.
The start of the game did not look great as Pirates lead off man Evan McCubbng hit a well placed triple down the right field corner followed by an rbi single by Carter Phythian. After that Kody Rock simply shut the Pirates down by not allowing another hit with twelve strikeouts and just one walk to keep the game under control.
The offence was kickstarted by Travis Mentanko in the bottom of the third with a solo home run to right center to tie the game. In the bottom of four the Supers took advantage of a leadoff error as Brendon Landstad and Shae Peterson followed with singles, and Evan Rostotski had an rbi to give the Supers a 3-1 lead. This was all that was needed on this night as the defence made all of the plays. Kholton Shewchuk had a leadoff double in the bottom of the fifth as the Supers only had four hits on the evening.
The win gives the Supers a 1-0 series lead in the best of five final. the series will continue as follows:
