SWBL Finals
Posted August 1, 2023
The SWBL finals have been set, with the defending champion Boissevain Centennials taking on the 4th seeded Wawanesa Brewers.
Boissevain dominated once again this season, going a league-best 14-1-1 en route to the #1 seed. The Cents swept the Rivers Comets 2-0 in round 1 of the playoffs, then beat the Hamiota Red Sox 3-1 in the semi-finals.
The Wawnaesa Brewers put together an impressive end to their regular season and have rode the momentum all the way through the post-season. After starting the year 0-3, the Brewers won 6 of their last 8 games to earn home field advantage in the first round of the playoffs. After knocking off the Virden Oilers, they toppled the Deloraine Royals 3 game to 1 in the second round. Wawanesa will be looking for their first championship since 2011, a win that capped off a run of four championships in six years for the club.
The playoffs kick of Wednesday, August 2nd in Boissevain. Here is how the teams stacked up during their two regular season match-ups.
