PLUMAS WINS THE TITLE!!!

Plumas has won the SCBL championship for the first time since 1999!!!! They picked up a 7-1 victory to sweep the Minnedosa Mavericks 3-0 in the best of 5 finale. Plumas scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning to break the deadlock. A Brady Walker single to right field brought on a play at 3rd base, but a throwing error into the stands would allow that runner to score, and Walker advanced to 3rd. This was followed by a successful suicide squeeze had the Pirates up 2-0 after 3. Plumas would score 3 more in the 5th, with the rally getting started with a dropped ball to deep centre field. Carter Schettler would hit a bases loaded infield single to score a run, followed by a Sam Koncz single that scored two more. The Mavericks would score one in the top of the 6th where John Hutton would drive in Ryan Heion. Hutton would advance to 2nd, but that was left stranded. Plumas added two more in the bottom of the frame to lead 7-1 after 6. Minnedosa would put a few runners on in the 7th but a double play eliminated the runners and Plumas would strike out the last batter to claim the title. Zac Yandeau picked up the win on the mound giving up 1 run on 4 hits. Lyndon Zimmer took the loss, after coming out due to injury in the bottom of the 3rd. John Hutton would throw the rest of the game for the Mavs.

Congratulations Plumas on a great season, and a long awaited championship. You guys definitely earned it. Future is bright in Plumas.

And a well done to Minnedosa on reaching the finals on your comeback season. It was great having you back.
