Grays on Top Going into the Midseason Tournament
Posted August 26, 2023
As the SBL takes a Midseason break after 20 games to play the "Cooperstown Classic Tournament", the Homestead Grays have emerged as the front runner in the pennant race, at 15-5 and 3 games up on 2nd place Louisville.
With just 22 games to play, four teams are within 2 games of that coveted second place World Series berth (Pittsburgh & Montreal at 11-9, and Texas & Seattle at 10-10), setting up what could be a wild pennant race in the 2nd half.
The resurgent Wichita Jobbers are certainly not out of it either, at 8-12 after a series of trades and waiver wire moves to bolster their offense, just 4 games back of second place.
The Harlan County Black Bears, who recently announced an intended move to the Bronx to compete as the New York Yankees beginning in Season Two, are in last place at 3-17.
