THHL: October 20th

Good morning, it’s one of the best times of the year for sports fans. The NHL is just beginning, the NBA is days away, baseball playoffs are intensifying, the CFL season is wrapping up, curling action is going on all over the world and we are just days away from the first TL Media Game Time when the Boissevain Border Kings host the Souris Elks. The Tiger Hills Hockey League started last night with three games. Pilot Mound @ Wawanesa, Souris @ Killarney and Deloraine @ Rivers. 

The Wawanesa Jets scored once in the first, two in the second and four times in the third en route to a 7-1 win over the Pilot Mound Pilots. Avery Cullen had a hat trick and Mike Reykdal put up five points for the Jets. Luke Van De Velde had the lone marker for the Pilots.

Zach Edmunds opened the scoring for the Souris Elks Senior Hockey Club just 53 seconds into their match up against the Killarney Shamrocks. That was it for the Elks however Isaac Friesen, Lane Ganske, Kyle Peters, Jesse Bernard, Bryce Enns and Sutton Olson responded for the Shamrocks. The Final score was Killarney 6 Souris 1.

The home team dominance continued in Rivers. Jaxon Haney had 3 goals and two assists, Riley Shamray, Brock Paddock, Joben Smith each had 2 goals to cruise the Rivers Jets Sr Team to an 11-1 triumph over the Deloraine Royals. Brett Morrison had the only goal for Deloraine. 

Just one game in the Tiger Hills Hockey League on Saturday. Tanner Nicoll and the MacGregor Wild travel to Carberry for a date with Shane Graham’s Carberry Plainsmen Puck drop is set for 7:30. 

The South East Manitoba Hockey League kicks off tonight at 7:30. The Morden Bombers travel to Warren for a meeting with the Mercs. Morden was a league finalist last year and had a 3-0 series lead in the championship before dropping four straight to the Ste-Anne Senior Aces. Warren won the 2022 provincial championship and are looking to get back there this season. 

Our first broadcast will be Saturday October 28th when Boissevain hosts Souris.
