Stick a Fork in it

Posted July 7, 2010

The 2010 Canora Supers dreadful season has officially come to an end prematurely due to lack of commitment. Factors such as work, weddings, injuries, and flat out giving up lead to this decision. Other than in 1998 when the Supers took a one year leave of absence, they have been a fixture in the SESBL for decades. 2010 has been a rough year, as the Supers finish with a record of 2 wins and 8 losses.

Although we're throwing in the towel for this year, the possibility of the team resurfacing next year is very good, and we are going to try like hell to put a competitive team on the field. If fielding a team in 2011 isn't possible, I guess we'll join the likes of the Yorkton Black Sox, Langenburg Indians, Churchbridge Athletics, Saltcoats Lakers, Madge Lake Marlins, Roblin Red Sox, Esterhazy Elks, and Grandview Lakers: all defunct teams that had been in the league as recently as 1997, some much more recently.

Time will tell what the future holds for the Supers, but we hope to be back and stronger than ever in 2011. Good luck to the rest of the teams in the SESBL for the remainder of the year. May the best team win!
