Supers and Lakers Tie
Posted June 19, 2024
On Wednesday June 19 the Supers hosted the Saltcoats Lakers for the first time since 2007. None of the Lakers from back then still play, but the new generation showed up and played well in a see-saw affair, ending in a 3-3 tie.
Kody Rock was the starting pitcher, and was his usual dominant self by allowing just two hits with twelve strikeouts. Unfortunately he gave up three unearned runs as the defence had a rough night by committing five errors.
Ian Quewezance and Jordan Auger led the way with two hits apiece. Derek Palagian also had a single, but the biggest jolt was a Grady Wolkowski two run home run to tie the game at three in the fifth inning.
The rest of the offence just could not get anything going off of Lakers pitcher Brandon Spilchen, who had eleven strikeouts of his own.
With the tie the Supers record sits at 3-1-1 on the season. Next action is Friday, June 21 as the Lakers come back to Al Sapieha Field. First pitch is 6:30 PM
