The top 3 teams in the league made sure they stayed there last night picking up wins. Portage, Neepawa, and Plumas all picked up victories to keep pace at the top of the standings.
Portage downed Austin 14-8. Austin(4-5) actually had Portage(7-1-1) down 7-6 after 5, but Portage roared back to get the win. Tanner Boyle homered for the winners and Tyler Olsen picked up the win on the mound in relief. He also went 3-3 at the plate ith 3 RBI to help his cause
Plumas downed Minnedosa 11-5. The return of Zac Yandeau helped the strong Pirates(6-3) team cruise to victory. Yandeau went 2-3 with 3 runs scored. Carter Schettler was 2-2 with a hp and a sac fly driving in 5 runs. Rylan Denbow with another fine showing picked up the win. Throwing 6 innings giving up 2 runs and striking out 4. Denbow also went 1-1 with a double and 3 walks. Luke Gugin went 3-4 for the Mavericks(1-8) and also pitched 2 shutout innings of relief. Hunter Dundas took the loss going 2 1/3 innings. Kieran Baron homered in his only at bat of the game and his first senior baseball hit was a memorable one, struck well out to left field.
In Carberry, Neepawa scored 8 in the 2nd and 4 in the 3rd to run away with the game. They would end up with a 14-6 victory. Zac Plett picked up the win going 4 2/3 - and Cole Krutkewich closed the door the final 2 2/3. Jordan Wickens was the star of the show going 4-4 with a walk and 3 rbi to lead the Cubs(5-2-1) Cam Rohs took the loss for Carberry(3-7) before giving way to Cory Billeart.
Friday Minnedosa travels to Austin, Then next Monday and Wednesday are busy nights in the SCBL.
