Posted July 14, 2024
The Supers faced off with the Marlins in the playoffs for the third time in four years, and once again were able to come out on top with a victory in Canora on July 8 and in Yorkton on July 10 to sweep the series 2-0.
Monday July 10 - Supers 4 Marlins 1 - Canora Sask
The Series started off with a pitcher's duel between Kody Rock, and former Super Logan Parachoniak, as both went the distance. Rock had his usual solid outing would giving up one run on seven hits and eight strikeouts to pick up the win.
The offence scored one in the first and two in the second, highlighted by a Sean Kolodziejski two run double. The bats could only push across one more in the sixth, but it was plenty to come away with the win. Also with hits for the Supers were Tyrel Thorpe, Ian Quewezance, Derek Palagian, Dylan Toffan and Rock.
The defence was also very good with only one error committed.
Wednesday July 12 - Supers 10 at Marlins 4 - Yorkton Sask
The Supers looked to clinch the series at Jubilee Park, and were able to do so with 21 hits in a 10-4 victory.
Every player had at least one hit, and many had two or three. It was a close game throughout as the Supers had a 5-2 lead going into the seventh, but seven more hits and five runs put the game out of reach, ultimately ending the Marlins hope of a comeback. Nathaniel Minhinnick, Thorpe, Palagian and Rock each had three hits. Jordan Auger, Kolodziejski, and Quewezance each had a pair of hits. Kholton Shewchuk, Travis Mentanko and Grady Wolkowski each had one hit.
Shewchuk got the win pitching four innings while allowing just one run on four hits and five strikeouts. Palagian tossed the final three innings to pick up the save.
The Supers now face the Parkland Pirates in the best of 5 final series which is slated to start Monday, July 15 at 6:30 PM in Canora
