Tough Weekend for the Mud Hens

The past weekend started out well in Carman on Thursday night, with a 13-2 victory against the Cardinals. Branden Hatley was in full control on the mound and claimed the complete game win.
On Friday night, the Hens travelled to Cartwright for a rematch with the Twins. Morden led 3-0 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. The Twins strung together a few hits, to get the score to 3-2. Then with a couple runners on and two outs, a game-ending infield pop-up fell in, allowing the tying and winning runs to score. Derek Holenski started and took the loss on the hill.
Sunday afternoon had the Carman Cardinals come for their only visit to Morden this season. The Cardinals jumped out to a 10-2 lead with four runs in the fourth inning. The Hens put up a late charge with six runs of their own in the bottom of the sixth but it would be too little too late, making the final score 11-9. Kyle Nixon started for the Mud Hens and was saddled with the loss, Nick Hatley threw three innings of relief.
Morden will wrap up their regular season on Tuesday night when the Baldur Regals come to town. firt pitch is 7pm.
