Mud Hens Wrap Up Regular Season with a Win
Posted July 17, 2024
After multiple rainouts the Baldur Regals finally made it to town for the Mud Hens regular season finale. Morden wasted little time scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first inning. Baldur battled back with a pair of runs in both the second and third innings bringing the score to 7-4. The Hens would answer back in the bottom of the third with five more runs. The teams would trade runs in the fifth inning, making the score 15-5 at that point. In the sixth and seventh innings, the Regals would put up a late charge scoring two and four runs, but with the Hens adding one run in between those, it would be enough to hold on for a 14-11 victory.
Chris Moffatt started for Morden on the hill, pitching for the first time in quite a few years. Owen Sager came on in relief in the third inning and snagged the Win. Riley Sager and Manny Lantigua also pitched in relief.
The Mud Hens finish the season in second place in the East Division, and will meet Winkler in the first round of the playoffs. Those games should start sometime next week. This weekend however, Morden will host the 2024 Senior AA Provincials once again. The Mud Hens will start the tournament against Altona on Friday at 5pm.
