Big night in SCBL Semi Finals
Posted July 31, 2024
Its a big night in the SCBL. The Portage Padres are one win away from advancing to the championship. Can the hometown Mavericks fend them off and force a deciding game 3 next week? Neepawa welcomes Plumas for game 1 of their series tonight. Could we see a battle of the two top pitchers in the league? Denbow vs Rempel who ended up in a tie in the voting for top pitcher.
In Minnedosa, The Mavericks will need to keep the errors to a minimum against a opportunistic team from Portage. For the Padres, the key will be to keep the home crowd silenced as they hope to advance to the finals. The Mavericks will likely send veteran Devin Foord to the mound. An arm they have relied on all season. Foord has a 5-0 record this year and will hope to continue that trend. Portage has many arms and usually use 2 or 3 a night. You could see Couvier or Koss get the ball to start.
Offensively Minnedosa has a nice mix of experience and youth that can get you through their lineup, Portage is a little younger but lots of game experience, they also have veterans Jago and Laramee to lok out for.
In Neepawa, This should be a pretty good series. These two teams stack up well against each other. High scoring offense and multiple pitchers that can shut you down. Neepawa needs to play tight defense and capatilize on any opportunities Plumas may present them with. Plumas needs to get going early, as Rempel only gets better as the game goes on.
Cody Pasowisty will be trying to keep his hot bat alive for the Cubs, meanwhile Plumas newlywed Zac Yandeau is always a threat to steal a game. A very well rounded team on both sides.
In about 12 hours we will see how this all shakes out.
