With a 9-4 victory over Deloraine Sunday night, the Boissevain Centennials captured their third consecutive SWBL Championship.  Zane Sawyer went 2-0 in the final series, giving up just 5 earned runs in 13 innings pitched.  Jordan Foote dominated Deloraine pitching in the final, leading the Centennials in average (.538), runs scored (8), RBI (7), and home runs (2).

Boissevain also cleaned up on some individual accolades.  Here are the remaining award winners from the 2024 SWBL season:

League ERA Crown:  Zane Sawyer, Boissevain Centennials  1.59 ERA

Most Valuable Player (As voted by the Member Teams):  Scott Beever, Rivers Comets

Beever went 7-0 with a 2.43 ERA while throwing 46 innings and completing all six of his starts.  He was the league leader in strikeouts with 82.  At the plate, Scott batted .404 with a .989 OPS in 63 plate appearances to help the Comets into a second place tie after barely making the playoffs in 2023.

Rookie of the Year (As Voted by the Member Teams):  Drew Hilhorst, Boissevain Centennials

Hilhorst batted .404 in 51 plate appearances in his first year in the SWBL, manning shortstop for the league leading Centennials.  In addition, he added a 1.91 ERA,  2 wins, and a save in 14 2/3 innings pitched on the mound.

Mark Minor Award:  Mike Stevenson, Elkhorn Expos

Named after former Lyleton Leaf Mark Minor, the Mark Minor Award is voted on by the member teams and awarded to the player that is dedicated to their team and community while making an impact on the field.

Stevenson exemplifies who Mark Minor was:  A team guy, a glue guy, and the first guy to lend a hand whether on the diamond or in the community.  Mike has done all these things for the last 10 years in this league.  He was an integral part of organizing the innagural Expos back in 2014, as well as ressurecting them last season.  Mike plays a pivotal role in any postiion asked and never complains about where he plays.  He just plays for the love of the game, and the guys gravitate toward him.

Mike is a leader on and off the field, and the Expos really appreciate having him as part of our organization, not only for what he does as a player, but also as a role model.  Through coaching, he is able to share his passion for the game with future Expos in our community.
