A & B Teams Celebrate Win

Lady Wildcats Ateam & Bteam are all smiles after win against Lewis County.
After starting their season off win a 1-2 record, the Lady Wildcats were anxious for another win. They traveled to Hohenwald to face the Lewis County Lady Panthers on August 24. Things were close early in the first set until Lewis County had a 6-point run and put the Lady Panthers ahead 14-11. The Lady Panthers took the first set 25-21. Then, the Lady Wildcats came out strong in the second set performing well from the service line with only 2 errors. Waverly took the second set 25-13. Early in the deciding set, it seemed that the two teams were taking turns at serve until Hannah Scott rotated to serve for Waverly. The Lady Wildcats then managed a 5-point run that gave them the lead at 12-7. Waverly took the set 15-12 adding their second win of the season. In their best performance from the service this season, the Lady Wildcats had 61 attempts at serve for the match with only 6 serving errors.
Serving leaders were Desiray Sanchez 14 for 14 with 5 aces, Hannah Scott 14 for 16 with 4 aces, Malena Martin 9 for 9 with 1 ace, Maecayla Davis 7 for 7 with 2 aces, Keyle Holland 7 for 9 with 3 aces, and Jordan Wertz 4 for 6 with 1 ace. Passing leaders were Jordan Wertz 37 for 41 with 5 digs, Keyle Holland 34 for 40 with 1 dig, Maecayla Davis 16 for 19 with 1 kill and 1 dig, Alyssa Martin 5 for 6, and Hannah Scott 19 for 23 with 1 kill and 2 digs. Malena Martin had 4 digs for Waverly. Desiray Sanchez and Chloe Fussell each added 1 kill for the Lady Wildcats.
Waverly’s B-team had their best performance so far this season needing only 2 sets to take the win. Most of the action came from the serving line for Waverly as the Lady Panthers had a hard time returning serves from the Lady Wildcats. Serving leaders were Lofton Etheridge 9 for 9 with 5 aces, Molly Fortner 17 for 18 with 4 aces, Abby Varner 5 for 6 with 1 ace, Emma Rushton 6 for 8 with 1 ace, and Abbie Landiss 1 for 1. Passing leaders were Emma Rushton 6 for 8, Lofton Etheridge 4 for 4 with 1 dig, Kyra Lewis 4 for 4 with 1 dig, and Abby Mayberry 3 for 3 with 1 kill. Abby Varner also added a dig for the Lady Wildcats.
