JCMS drops game to Cloudland

The news wasn’t good for the Middle School Longhorns on Friday in Roan Mountain. The girls lost a hard fought 30-28 decision to Cloudland while the boys were defeated 42-35.
Taylor Parson had 12 points for the Lady Longhorns but it wasn’t enough to upend the Highlanders.
Abby Cornett played well, scoring eight, but they couldn’t match the balanced scoring produced by the Highlanders.
Leah Birchfield had eight to lead the way. Kayla Fields added seven with six coming by Jasmine Birchfield and Heaven Caraway with five. Kristen Bare rounded out the well balanced scoring with four.
Lucas Phillips scored 11 and Andrew Dugger added 10 but the Longhorns couldn’t conquer the home standing Highlanders.
Dylan Simcox chipped in eight in a game that wasn’t decided until the final three minutes.
Hunter Shell led the Highlanders with 14 points.
The 7th grade boys salvaged Johnson County’s only win taking a 36-15 contest.
Clayton Cross led the way with 11 points while Trevor Gentry and Cody Norris added eight and six points respectively.
Sadie Stout scored 10 points but Johnson County lost the 7th grade girls’ game 46-17
