Jets have a six point weekend!

Posted November 28, 2022

It was an incredibly busy but successful weekend for the SW Jets! The three game weekend started off Friday evening with the Jets hosting the Dauphin Kings. It was the first time the Jets and Kings have faced each other. The Jets, playing with two AP’s, patched together a line-up in this match. The teams traded goals early and neither team looked like they wanted it. After the first period intermission the Jets came out with some spark and took a two goal lead and from there they never looked back, eventually winning 9-4.

The boys headed home to rest up for a Saturday afternoon game against the Pembina Valley Twisters in Grunthal. With the Jets still missing three players they had one AP in the line-up and with three forward lines and four D in order to spark some offence. The teams went back and forth in a fast first period that resulted in a score of 0-0 after one. The Jets managed to get on the board in the second period and headed into the third period with the lead. The play of the game came courtesy of goalie Zaiden MacDonald Horvath when he came all the way across the crease to make an unbelievable glove save. The save seemed to spark the boys as they went on to get the win and shutout for the tendy by a score of 4-0.

Sunday saw the Jets hit the road for a late afternoon game in Holland against the Pembina Valley Rockets. The Jets came out firing on all cylinders and pocketed the first goal 9 seconds into the game. The Jets then put up another marker a few minutes later to make it 2-0. From there things got rough as both sides were making big hits and after the whistle shenanigans started. Both penalty boxes saw a continuous flow of players throughout the first period. In the second period the teams turned their attention back to playing hockey and that meant the speedy Jets were able to turn on the afterburners and put a few more on the board. The third period saw another couple of goals by the Jets which in turn lead to more extra-curricular activity after the whistle. In the end the Jets kept their cool and went on to a 6-1 victory.

The Jets are back to work at practice before a huge weekend coming up. They first hit the road to La Broquerie Friday evening for a game against the Blizzard and then they are back to Holland on Saturday for a rematch (and final meeting of the regular season) against the Rockets.
