Weekend Split

Posted June 11, 2019

The Supers travelled to Willowbrook on Friday June 7 to take on the Royals with Kody Rock getting the start on the hill. From start to finish Rock was in fine form as he gave up just two hits and had an incredible twenty strikeouts in a 10-0 shutout victory.

The offence was clicking on all cylinders as Rock led the way with a triple, three singles and an rbi. Seasoned veteran Ron Sopko of Churchbridge had two singles and a double, while Kholton Shewchuk had a pair of singles and two rbi. Brogan Legebokoff, Ian Quewezance, Greg Andreychuk, and Colby Parachoniak also recorded one hit apiece. Jayden Heskin of Norquay had a successful Supers debut drawing a pair of walks while scoring a run.

Heading into the fourth inning the Supers led 3-0 but opened the game up with five runs to put the game out of reach.

The following afternoon the Grandview Lakers came into town for a 2:00 PM start at Al Sapieha Field. The wind was blowing out strong to left field and as a result the Lakers took advantage of three home runs and some shaky Supers fielding to come away with a 12-7 victory.

Starting pitcher Colby Parachoniak took the loss on the hill. He gutted it out with 6 1/3 innings pitched, recording ten strikeouts. After trailing 7-2 heading into the bottom of the sixth, the Supers mounted a serious rally capped by a 2 rbi double from former long time Super Ryan Kitchen. Canora Reds call ups Brendan Babichuk and Grady Wolkowski made their Supers debuts as a lot of the main roster players could not make it. Babichuk drew a pair of walks while Wolkowski had a single and a double as they both held their own. Babichuk played center field and caught a fly ball, while Wolkowski made a pair of throws at shortstop.

With the bats Greg Andreychuk hit his first home run of the season. Terry Cumming and Ryan Kitchen each had a double. Adam Korb had a pair of singles, while Colby Parachoniak and Brogan Legebokoff had one single apiece.

The win and loss moved the Supers record to 6-2 on the season. Next game is Tuesday, June 11 as the Supers host the Back Forty Brewers. First pitch is 6:15
