ABOUT COACH LASCOLA:
Jessica LaScola has a passion in sports and working with student athletes to achieve their goals. Jessica has a very diverse background in playing and coaching in multiple sports.
Jessica pursued volleyball as her main sport from a very young age. While playing club, she was a Silver and Bronze medalist at the Junior Olympics. During high school, Jessica was the Torrey Pines High School Libero and was named 1st team All-Palomar League, All-San Diego, and was a San Diego All-Star. Jessica was also a standout soccer goalie and recorded 17 shutouts while only allowing a solo goal the entire season. Jessica led Torrey Pines to a #1 national ranking and her team was Palomar League and CIF Champions. Jessica was named 1st team All-League, All-CIF and obtained the Sportsmanship Award.
During college, Jessica started out as the Libero at San Diego Mesa College where her team was back-to-back PCC Champions. Jessica was named 1st team All-Conference, All-Southern California, and All-State. In 2006, she set the all-time national record with 117 aces and 835 digs. Jessica was also on the Mesa tennis team and was the Player of the Year and named 1st team All-PCC.
In 2008, Jessica gained valuable experience playing for top 15 NCAA Division 1 ranked Long Beach State University. In 2009, she transferred to NCAA Division 1, Northeastern University for a full-ride scholarship. Jessica led her team to a 2nd place CAA finish. Jessica was ranked one of the top NCAA nationally ranked Liberos. Jessica was named All-CAA Libero, 2 time CAA Defensive Player of the Week and Most Valuable Libero. In 2010, she set the all-time school season record with 555 digs. Jessica ranked 2nd in the CAA in digs per set (4.87).
Academically, Jessica has a Criminal Justice/Sociology degree and received Magna Cum Laude Honors, National and Scholar-Athlete Honors, and President and Commissioner’s Academic Awards.
After Jessica graduated Northeastern University, she was offered to play professional volleyball, but pursued a career in law enforcement instead. Jessica is returning this year as the Sage Creek High School volleyball coach (CIF- 5th place) and Canyon Crest volleyball coach. Jessica also coached the 2011 season at the Academy of Our Lady of Peace. At OLP, her team recorded an impressive 23-3 record.
