2018 FINALS
Posted August 1, 2018
There will be a rematch for the SWBL Championship, as for the second year in a row the Oak River Dodgers and Boissevain Centennials will battle it our for league supremacy. The defending champion Dodgers swept the Cents in last year's final, but have had a more difficult road to this year's final series, sneaking by the #2 seed Rivers Comets 2 games to 1 then the #1 seeded Hamiota Red Sox 3 games to 1. Boissevain, on the other hand, swept their way past both the Souris Cardinals and Deloraine Royals in impressive fashion, outscoring thier opponents by 32 runs in the process. The Cents are currently riding an 18-game win streak (regular season, playoffs, and provincial playoff games included), with their lone loss of the season coming way back on May 27th in Rivers.
In thier only meeting of the season in Oak River, Boissevain beat the Dodgers 12-0. Patrick Vandoorne went 5-5 in that meeting with 3 doubles, 3 RBI, and 3 runs scored. Zane Sawyer went the distance allowing just 3 hits while striking out seven.
The series will get underway on Friday, August 3rd in Boissevain. Here is a look at how the teams have stacked up this post-season.
