The WACHE Warriors Varsity Boys team just wrapped up their season with a 27-11 record. On Saturday, February 4, the Warriors won the Great Lakes Homeschool Conference title for the second straight year with wins over the Hudsonville Hornets (60-55) and Christ the King (73-58) in the conference final four. They finished the conference schedule with an 11-2 record.
Joel Neff received the GLHC All Defense First Team, GLHC Defensive player of the year, GLHC All Conference First Team.
Brandt Hitzfield received the GLHC All Defense First Team, GLHC All Conference Second Team
Jake Lock received the GLHC All Conference Honorable Mention
The Warriors competed in the (ICBA) Indiana Christian Basketball Alliance state tournament on Saturday, February 11 where they defeated the Noblesville Lions (88-72) in the elite 8 to advance to the final four. In the final four the Warriors fell to the eventual state champions, the Indianapolis Wildcats with a score of 77-63.
The Warriors final event was the National Christian Homeschool Basketball Championship Midwest Regional, which was held February 23-25. In the first game of the Regional the Warriors faced off against the Fort Wayne Hawks and won (83-66) to advance to the Gold Division. In the Gold division the Warriors lost to the Illinois Crusaders (78-57), they then beat the C.E.C Cougars (63-54), and lost their final game in a heated battle to the Indianapolis Northwest Warriors 62-61 The Warriors finished 6th out of 32 teams.
Andy Wolf was the recipient of the NCHBC Christian Character Award
The Warriors were lead this season by Senior Joel Neff with 22.4 points per game and 9.4 rebounds per game.
Junior Brandt Hitzfield averaged 16.2 points per game and 10.1 rebounds per game
Freshman Jake Lock averaged 17.5 points per game and 5.9 rebounds per game.
