London Bandits

To our Bandit
Page of Champions

For the first time playing against true MD teams, the Bandits went 4-1, outscored their opposition 16-7, and won the tournament in a hard-fought 2-1 final against Sarnia.

The weekend saw several wonderful things. First, the boys won 4 straight games, raising their overall won-loss record for the season to 5-8-1. Two, the goal-tending was spectacular, Kody and Kurtis allowing just 6 goals between them over the five-game tournament and posting an overall 93.6% save percentage. Kurtis' breakaway snag against Woolwich in the semi-final, and Kody's two pad-coming-out-of-nowhere saves in the final minutes of the final will never be forgotten, both preserving wins in one-goal games.  Three, the penalty killers successfully killed 25 of 29 penalties (86.2%). Four, the power-play was brilliant, scoring 6 goals on 15 chances (40%). And fifth, the scoring was spread around, led by Jarrett with 4, Josh and Austin both with 3, Clayton and Connor McKay with 2, and singles by Connor Lyttle and Chris. Added to that were several dangerous rushes and hard point shots by the defensemen, all of whom had great chances.

With the win, the Bandits have really started the year’s tournament schedule off with a bang.

Minor Atom A - Georgetown Best of the Best Tournament Champions

Congratulations on winning the Georgetown Best of the Best tournament. We started slowly on Friday with a 2-2 tie against the Burlington Bulldogs but rebounded with an 8-0 win over the Guelph Jr. Storm on Friday night.  The Bandits won the MacNair showdown on Saturday afternoon by beating Georgetown Raiders 6-1.  That set up two games against the Burlington Eagles on Sunday.  The Bandits dropped their final round robin game to Burlington 4-0 in a game that saw the boys have every break go the other way.  In the finals on Sunday afternoon everyone was ready and came to play.  The Bandits were up 2-0 after two periods on goals by Alex MacLeod and Logan Mastrandrea and were playing great hockey. In the third, Burlington scored with 7:00 minutes left to make it interesting in the final few minutes. Game MVP Andrew Kozachuk stood his ground in net and made several game saving stops in the final few minutes to preserve the victory.  It was a great team effort and all players contributed equally to the win.  The parents and kids had a great weekend and the final game was icing on the cake.  Way to go Boys!!

Minor Midget A - Toronto Avalanche Thanksgiving Champions!
Congratulations to all the players on a tremendous weekend in Toronto.
Opening with a 2-0 victory over the Ottawa Sting, the Bandits didn't look back, stringing together 3 consecutive shutout victories. The Ottawa win was followed by a 5-0 win over the Guelph Jr Storm and a 4-0 win over the host Toronto Avalanche.
The great goaltending and team play didn't stop there. Including their 4-0 semi-final win over the Sarnia Sting, the team posted an impressive 22 Goals for and only 3 against after 6 games. Way to go boys!
